Collaborative Work Space Increases Revenue

Collaborative work spaces are taking over in modern day offices, much of this is due to the collaborative nature of the rooms and how it adds to a more open and innovative culture. Collaborative work spaces give opportunities for impromptu meeting, sparking conversations between departments, and inspirations. While collaborative work spaces can differ based on the size of the room and the employees using it, we have gathered a list of elements that other companies have used to successfully create collaborative conference room design work spaces.

Fuel Your Thoughts:

Snacks! A good snack selection, of healthy vs. guilty pleasures can help add to a collaborative work space. Not only will having snacks help bring more people to the room, but nothing helps you get through a road block better than taking a break and having some carrots or a Kit Kat bar.

Keep it Moving:

One important element of collaborative work spaces is mobility. Mobility in chairs, tables, and mobile dry erase boards, and presentation displays, because the group of people occupying a collaborative work space can from a group of 3 to a group of 15. By having furniture of wheels it lets the users create and build the space to how they best see fit and for how they want to use the space.

Inspiration at Every Turn:

Many offices are creating rooms and space that add to the experience and give the employees inspiration when in the room. Examples of this could be, adding in a library or covering the walls with modern office art, either made by employees or abstract images, or just having a view of the city or office location with big wall to ceiling windows. Collaborative work space work better when they add to inspiration for projects and to the employees that are using the rooms.

Location, Location, Location:

Arguably one of the most important factors of a collaborative work space is the location. You want the location of the room or area to be centrally located, that way it gives the most people that want to use it the opportunity to use it. If the location for the collaborative space is too far from certain departments than it might deter their use for it. Some companies also build their collaborative work space with glass walls that way as someone passes by they can see how occupied the room is, or if someone they are looking for is in the room.

Collaborative work spaces are taking a big rise in business and how offices are designed. The benefits of having collaborative work spaces adds to the culture and the interdepartmental relationships by giving employees a chance to collaborate and learn from others in the office.

Millennials Are Innovating New Office Design

Millennials are often described as having a disruptive natural and changing industries, but in reality millennials are just looking to bring more balance to offices through the incorporation of diversity and the importance of a work life balance. The impact of millennials can’t be ignored, and with more of them entering the workforce, companies are trying to create an environment that appeals to them, in order to create loyalty, because millennials are notorious for hopping around and changing companies after only a year or two.

Collaborative in Nature:

With millennials having a collaborative nature, companies are looking for new ways to assist in that area and to let them have more collaborative environments.

All Play:

Companies are realizing that what might have worked for past generations, coming in working till lunch and then working till 5pm, isn’t what millennials are looking for. Instead millennials what to come in work, take a break, draw inspiration, go back to work, have lunch, work, and get some more inspiration before they leave. Different millennials draw inspiration from different pass times and because of that companies are creating game rooms, they game rooms encompass everything from libraries, to scrabble walls, to ping pong table anything that millennials can use to take a quick break from their work, so they don’t get a brain block and then come back ready to tackle the project. Having office meeting room designs where millennials can take a quick break is beneficial because it boasts their emotional state and lets them leave, so they don’t distract others that are in a work zone.

Adult Snacks:

Companywide happy hours isn’t a new thing; however, having in office bars is. By having in office bars it lets companies have companywide happy hours to bring in the weekend for employees working on Fridays or to celebrate a new client or a project approval. In office bars isn’t just a pull for millennials, but it is something millennials are spearheading because for them a good balance between work and play is important. An in office bar is a good way to balance out work and play, but as always, it is important to drink responsibly.

Don’t Forget Mother Nature:

Millennials are known to have a strong love for design elements that bring in indoor plants into the mix. They believe in the health benefits that indoor plants provide. However, companies are taking it a step forward and having company gardens that employees can tend to and grow plants from their own liking such as sunflowers or tomato plants. Tending to a garden is something that can give employees a stronger sense of purpose and a good inspiration break to water their plants. Company gardens are also seen as a collaborative and community effort that brings employees together.

Not all millennials are programed the same, so it is important to pick elements that appeal to the millennials that work in your office and fit with your office culture because the reason they are in your office is in part due to the office culture. And while this list is for what millennials are attracted to these are also elements that other employees from different generations can enjoy as well.

Conference Rooms and Exquisite Lighting Designs

The lighting in a conference room helps build out the ambiance and the way people feel before a meeting. Warmer lights are known to make people feel more relaxed, while cooler lights make people more productive, and the brighter the light, the more alert people feel. Lighting is a key factor in design and often times can go overlooked, don’t let that happen to you. Below are exquisite and modern ways to tackle meeting room interior design lighting.

No Light is the New Light:

With companies taking a new design approach to bring the outside in, from gardens, rooftops, and courtyards, it should come as no surprise that skylights are becoming a big trend in offices. Skylights have the benefit of bringing in natural light, and with some of them even opening up you can let in a light breeze. Natural light has a positive effect on people by giving an overall positive mood. The only downside to having a natural lit sky light is that if the weather is not it’s best, and gloomy, it can be slightly darker in the room, so it is important to have back up light options just in case.

Industrial Aesthetic:

With modern offices taking an industry twist, from refurbished factories to exposed brick, industrial touches are seen across the US. This industrial design is having an effect on lighting with light bulb lighting fixtures or lighting with metal design covers. Industrial lighting fixture can add just small detailed looks to the room that can style out the whole meeting room design.

Lighting as the Focal Point:

Chandeliers are making a comeback in design and companies are taking note. Chandeliers whether they have a classic look or more of a modern take are seen in conference rooms to add an air of elegance. Companies are playing with the design of chandeliers by having more than one and chandeliers of different sizes. As opposed to home chandeliers in the office can be more playful and differ in pairings, by mixing and matching chandelier styles. One thing to note when it comes to chandeliers, is to have one above the presentation area, to make sure the presenter has enough light on them as well.

While lighting can help set the ambiance and aesthetic of designing a conference room, it can also be a way for companies to have fun with their design and to make it a focal point of the room if they chose to.
